Good Points

Stayed at Cala Nova Apartments with my husband and two children aged 9 and 13. Long drive from airport about 45 minutes.
Good location, minutes away from the town centre with plentiful shops and a Netto or Spar shop everywhere you look. Apartments are spotless and ours was cleaned everyday.
No microwave or appliances, you have to hire these at reception. Bar food was basic but tasty, no restaurant. Bar staff are very nice indeed, entertainment was a bit poor but to be fair, it was January and a bit off season. Reps were falling over themselves to help you 24 hours a day. Tiny pool but adequate and clean, just a bit slippery.
Small shop located in reception but open 24 hours a day so very handy indeed and well stocked.
Restaurants and bars galore, very cheap, Chinese buffet was excellent we had a job walking back to apartment we were so full. Cost 30 Euros for 4 people including drinks and loads of free shots of water-chestnut and plum liqueur, legless and full-up!
Timeshare touts though, beware, they are very pushy but do take them up and go for a look around Anfi-Del-Mar or Anfi beach as it's called, it's 5 star luxury resort and beautiful, you also get a free gift, so choose a free excursion as it will save you over 100 Euros. Do not go on any others it's a waste of time, they say you've won a holiday or duty free cigarettes and booze! Tell them you have a timeshare already and run away, they are very persistent though and can get nasty at times.
Excellent beach, beautiful scenery, watersports, scuba diving, try-out dives are 10 Euros, waterpark is 10 minutes walk away, excursions are very reasonable and great fun, loved the jeep safari, dolphin chase and Maspalomas water park.
Weather was amazing! Pretty much the perfect holiday resort for us.

Bad Points

This hotel is situated on a hill, very steep and 10 minutes walk to the beach. Lifts are mostly out of order, which is horrendous up 8 flights of stairs after you've climbed loads of stairs to get to your hotel in the first place.
Time share touts! They beggar belief and there are hundreds of them. They get 100 Euros or £80 for each person they send to a resort, so that's why they are so keen to get you up there. Anfi beach is the main one.
African and Moroccan guys will offer to sell you sunglasses and watches, also sex and drugs, no joke. Police are always watching and if you buy drugs or make any deals you get arrested and fined.
Electrical goods are plentiful, cameras, camcorders, be warned, they are usually models which are very dated and have no European warranty. They are usually imported from Morocco or Africa and not quite what they seem, also software is not compatible with many UK computer systems and cannot be obtained online.

General Comments

Excellent, will no doubt return here many times in the future.
