Bad Points

A bit fiddly (because its small!), sound quality and flimsy ear hook

General Comments

The Jabra JX10 is one of those items that are bought on looks. Form over function. Bluetooth headsets are getting smaller and lighter these days, and at 10 g this is no exception. However, this headset is aesthetically very pleasing, with a clean and uncluttered design. It is so small that others may not realise you are wearing one. They will probably stand back a couple of feet thinking you are mad!

It comes beautifully presented in a black box, complete with charger and desk stand. It is very Bang & Olufsen in shape and would look good on any desk. After charging it up, pairing is very easy with the mobile phone and you are good to go.

The unit has four buttons on it. The top one to answer and hang up, on the back 2 very small buttons that are volume control and a inner recessed button for pairing.

In use the volume buttons are very small and fiddly to use, and in a right handed configuration the volume up button is at the bottom. Not exactly innate, but better for left handed people.

Accepting and hanging up calls is very easy with a single button. This also activates voice dialling if supported by phone, and again is easy and reliable to use; even in noisy environments.

The volume of sound out of the headset is a bit weedy. It can be improved by pushing the headset hard against the ear; however, then comfort levels suffer. This is mainly a problem in noisy places, like the car!

A note about charging. Occasionally, after charging the headset may become unresponsive with the light on with a green glow. It needs to be reset and it is not obvious how to do this. After some searching I discovered the way to do it is to reattach it to the charger and disconnect it after 5 seconds. Hey presto, back in action.

The battery life is amazing for something so tiny, with long stand by and talk times. Also bundled with the package is a USB charger, which lives in a neat black suede effect pouch. Again it gives options for ensuring charging is always available.

Would I recommend this. I think a qualified yes. For most of us, and especially the vainer ones, it is a good buy. Just don't pay the RRP of around £100 for it. Many places have it for around half that. If you are a road warrior and will be using it 24/7, then comfort issues may arise which can become annoying

I think that's a thumbs up for the diminutive JX10.
