Good Points

The game is a big improvement from the last game (Smackdown vs. Raw 2006)

Bad Points

The controls are a bit harder to master and using the right analog stick to grapple makes it hard to use the first time you play it but when you get used to it, it will get easier.

General Comments

For the last three years, the Smackdown vs. Raw series has easily outshone every other wrestling title including the other WWE titles. It's not surprising then that THQ has ditched the other WWE series like Day Of Reckoning and taken the formerly PS2 exclusive SmackDown vs. Raw games multi-platform.

This year the Xbox 360 and PS2 both get the game, and it remains the best wrestling title around - not that there's any real competition. There are no new match types, but THQ have improved the Table and Ladder matches. You can play the game online and play people from around the world.

The best thing about the game is the new and improved season mode, there are loads of different stories, and it depends who you choose to control. The General Manager mode is as challenging as ever, but you have added options, which allow you to remove injuries etc. and also manage the rivalries which makes it easier to beat your opponent on the ratings war. The new grapple is better than the old one because you can get them in a 'Fireman's Carry' and can then give the person you are facing a 'Samoan Drop' or an 'Airplane Spin'.

. The Fireman's Carry is where you pick someone up on your shoulders.
. While the Samoan Drop is where you pick someone up and put them on your shoulders and drop them on their back.
. The Airplane Spin is where you pick someone up and put them on your shoulders and spin them.

A network adaptor is required to play online. You can compete against people from around the world. There are three match types: Single, Tag Team and Main Event. There are eight lobbies for single matches, eight lobbies for tag team matches and eight lobbies for the main events. The online ranking board records stats for the following:

. Win percentage
. Winning streak
. Total winning streak
. Disqualification
. Title match victories
. Title defences
. Total title defences
. Championship value/prestige
