We actually got to and from our destination.
Contrary to the previous review, the cabin crew were the only good point, particularly on our return flight on Good Friday.
Unbelievably cramped seating on the Airbus 310. Front row number 4 of economy was not accessible to us, even though we booked and paid 6 months ahead.
We sat in 5A and 5B both ways and it was impossible to eat or read due to lack of elbow room. Space was made worse because when we were allowed to board last, there was no luggage space overhead. This was made worse because all the video equipment occupies the overhead bins above 4AB/5AB.
This was an absolute nightmare for a couple of seniors on our first trip to Europe. Unlike the previous reviewer, buying an Air Canada flight home was not a financial option. Thank heavens that on the 4th April we had flown with Aer Lingus, Shannon to London and my wife saw what an excellent airline really was!
Air Transat staff at Gatwick were atrocious. When I blacked-out and collapsed over the baggage sizer whilst waiting to check-in, the staff did not even help my wife, even though I was bleeding from a gash to my forehead.
When the gentleman doing the pre-screening came over, it was not to help my wife to help me but to reattach a barricade that I had collapsed over! Eventually, at the counter the only concern shown was to make sure our baggage was not overweight! Unbelievable!
To anyone contemplating flying Air Transat, think very carefully how much you can endure. Do not commit to a flight reservation without obtaining a seat reservation. On the Airbus 310 there are six economy seats worth considering; 4A/B/C and 4H/J/K. Even then 4B and 4J should only be used for a child!
