Good starter gun
Construction methods not the best.
Many moons ago when I was but a sprog, my dear old dad bought me a Webley Jaguar starter kit for Christmas, nowadays of course with our wonderful UK nanny state rules and regulations he'd be arrested for such heinous crimes, but back then we were a more civilised crew and could be trusted with such items.
The Jaguar is a .177 break barrel starter air rifle, it's light in weight and of a size appropriate to a child, which does make it rather inconvenient for an adult to use. While quite accurate, it was clearly built to a budget as it's got a load of pressings and welds that you aren't going to find on a more prestige gun. The sight has no windage adjustment and the mounting for the telescopic is spot welded to the gun. It's not particularly powerful so really should be confined to target work, not a suitable hunting weapon.
Having read this far you may be wondering why I bother with this obsolete junker, but that'd be missing the point, designed to introduce target shooting to a young generation who would probably not treat it particularly well, the Jaguar did everything it was supposed to and did it well. It's easy to shoot, spares are available and mine still works just as well after more years than I care to admit. Though I did have to rebuild it as corrosion on the body and numerous bald parts on the stock where the lacquer had worn through weren't doing it any cosmetic favours. It introduced me to airgun shooting and provided more clean fun than could reasonably be expected from it.
