Oh boy, you're going to say. Here's another blow hard bragging about his marksmanship. Well, so be it, but I can back up what I say, and have done it to the amazement of those so inclined to see me do it.

My Dad was a Missouri farm boy and helped feed the family with his single shot 22 rifle, and later when married to Mom. He fed the family in Paxton Nebraska home with ducks, geese and rabbits. Dad instilled marksmanship in me, and I shot amateur competition off and on, and I loved to take on the winners and beat them hands down, much to the embarrassment of the trophy winner.

75 now, and I haven't lost much of that skill, and not a trophy to my name, as that is an ego trip and won't get you a cup of coffee. Sorry about all this verbal dysentery; I am getting away from the reason I am writing this story.

Retired and live out here in Inyokern California, where we have an over abundance of critters, and help to elevate the problem with pellet guns. Yes I reiterate. Pellet guns. A old RWS model 45, 177 cal. Says it poops um out at 970 fps plus or minus, and a Beeman Tempest 177 cal. @ 500 fps + -. Had these guys for 30 plus years to my best recollection.

Have a Millett RedDot sight on the RWS, and get rabbits at 100 to 130 yards any time I can see one. 95% on the first shot, and that's not bad for a 177 pellet and a rifle that isn't a Match Grade.

The Tempest is just as good, but harder to hit a rabbit at that range with iron sights. Well, hate to brag ya know, but have bagged Jacks (my best shot) at 189 feet. Not too shabby when there was a 5 to 10 mph cross wind, which I took into consideration, as well as the distance I was shooting.

OK, for you that are thinking this old guy is full of it. To some degree you are right, but I have a secret that hypes the pellets, or to say hops up the gun to greater velocity by a considerable amount, and has blown some doubtful Thomas's but sent um home thinking "that old guy is pretty savvy after all!". Got your interest? Call me some time.

Extremely hard to be humble. Just love the performance of these pellet guns and the enjoyment I have had over the 30 to 40 years I have had with them. Ya'll come and visit sometime, and bring your pellet guns and lets rock! Have a mini ranch so ya can camp out and stay a spell. Like a jam session? Bring your instruments and telescopes. Great night skies.
