General Comments

I bought the Red Rider for my son's 10th birthday. I was not expecting much from the weapon, as it is geared towards a 10-year old audience. This rifle perfectly fit the purpose for which I bought it: to teach my son how to safely handle and fire a rifle. Granted, this is not a hunting weapon and it isn't something that you would want to use for competition-level practice, though I must admit that my son is able to achieve decent shot groups on an AR-4 target at 5 meters (16.5 feet). Beyond that distance, shots are all over the place, at 10 meters you are lucky to even hit the target. In addition to being wildly inaccurate at that distance, the BB's lose their power quickly, so beyond 5 meters, the shots generally bounce off of the target instead of penetrating it.

Other than the distance and power issues, it has been accurate enough to teach my son how to safely shoot and even do some introductory target shooting, though I wouldn't use it for any real competition.
