Good Points

We stayed at Le Parc Des Amourettes in June in C te de Lumi re, La Faute Sur Mer, in fact we have stayed there for 2 weeks every year for 4 years! The first time we drove there it took 12 hours from Buckinghamshire in the UK, we were exhausted but were relieved to find such a fantastic little town. The beach stretches for miles! Plenty of bars with cold beer, plenty of restaurants, and the people are so friendly! We hardly spoke any French, and found that only one person in the town speaks English, but all the locals are so helpful, the local pizzeria on the high street is run by a lovely lady who was very patient and teaches us a little of the language each year. A 30 min drive north and you reach signs for Zoos, Sealife Centres, Museums, old Castles. A 20 min drive East bring you to Lucon with fantastic Cathedral and shops. A 60 min drive South brings you to La Rochelle, Fort Boyard, Castles, Forts, more zoos and Sealife Centres and loads more shopping. I've now decided to move to this town in a few years as I've never been to such a friendly, fun, relaxing place. Oh! And the beaches are so clean! The water is so clear, this place is amazing!

Bad Points

Lots of jelly fish in the sea throughout the warmer months, not sure if they sting. Shops and pretty much everything else shuts from 11am to 3pm...so get some breakfast or wait for a late lunch! Super U (supermarket) shuts as well at these times). Would like to see a few more English people there...but maybe a purely French town is a good thing that shouldn't be spoiled? There really are only Pizzerias and Crepe restaurants so if you don't like this type of food you really will struggle.

General Comments

I've traveled the world, from Europe to China and I've never felt so at home so fast as I did here. Oh and you really need to try the Crepe Chocolate...very tasty.
