The whole 'mediator' series is brilliant!!, Also if you wanted to just read a middle book in the series then at the start of the book it gives a brief description of what happened in the previous books.

There are not many, if none at all

The Meg Cabot, The Mediator 5: Haunted (Rpkg) series is about ghosts, and there for if you do not like them or do not wish your children to read about moderate violence, some injury's, a few light swear words and a bit of flirtatiousness and kissing (but not too much) then I suggest not to buy this book for them until at a later age you are comfortable for them to read it!
