General Comments
I have been with HSBC for nearly 6 years now, and I have to say overall, I am impressed with them. When I was always in credit they have been nothing but nice to me. However, you cross that line, like I did when I brought my first house, and they come down on you like a tonne of bricks. Over the past year I am being charged between £50 - £150 per month alone. Even though, whenever I notice I may be about to go over my current account overdraft, I always put some more money into my account, but they seem to take full advantage of the millisecond of going overdrawn to me actually putting the money in to cover it.
Of which I have had an enough, and I am going through the process, like many of you probably are, of claiming those pounds back.
I only had one problem with the call centre the first time I called to amend a Standing order. I got through to an Indian lady who couldn't understand me, and she ended up cancelling the Standing Order. Needless to say, I was fuming. When I called to complain about a whopping £150 bank charge in one month, they were quick to refund me £50 as a gesture of 'goodwill'. However, this didn't really help me out at the time.
Within my local branch I have always had the best customer service, and I even had my own dedicated person at one stage whilst going through changing of accounts and opening some new ones.
I am hoping HSBC continue to provide me with good service after this process of claiming back money, because I do not intend to switch banks, although I will probably be the minority of 1% whose account gets shut down.
