Good Points

Drop dead gorgeous looks!! Very strong performance from the diesel engine with good economy (36mpg). Plenty of space with luggage for two but forget the rear seats. Great Bose sound system and Bluetooth. Nice interior. Love the glass roof!

Bad Points

It breaks down! I know all cars have problems but the Alfa gremlins are still there, despite what they say. Mine suffered total transmission failure, stranding me on a busy roundabout in the rush hour (it has only done 13000 miles)! There are also numerous niggly faults. I spent £32000, it should be better than this!

General Comments

Overall the Alfa Romeo Brera 2.4 JTDM SV is a disappointing car to live with - it always seems as you are waiting for the next thing to go wrong. The car seems well built but attention to detail is poor. I bought mine form an excellent dealership (Mangoletsi in Knutsford) but other dealers leave me stunned (on one test drive the salesman was laid across the back seat texting his girlfriend).
It is a beautiful car but I feel it is underdeveloped and not carefully assembled.

Would I have another one? If it breaks down again I'm getting another SAAB!

My Brera has been faultless and seems well built

To add to my earlier woes, my Brera broke down again - engine failure this time! Left it with the dealer to be completely sorted, two weeks later it develops further faults. To be fair Alfa are replacing the car but I am disappointed with my first Alfa experience (and I spent £32k).
Why do do they struggle to build reliable cars, VW seem to have few problems!
