Nice adverts?
Hidden (in very small print) % based excess
No dental cover
No prescription diet cover
If your pet dies part way through a policy year, they deduct the rest of the years premiums from any settlement cheque
Many people take out a More Than insurance policy because it has a good level of media coverage. Many people however, do not look into the small print of this company. Firstly, the main bone of contention is More Than's Pet insurance excesses. A young dog has an excess of 75.00 (or 15%, whichever is the greater). The excess in brackets is in teeny tiny print, and no body notices it until they make a claim and get the shock of their lives if it's a big one. Percentage excesses are bought in on many policies when a pet reaches a certain age, but to have this excess in a young pet is rather unfair to say the least. The policy doesn't cover dental or diet, but doesn't clearly advertise this to its polciy holders. But the most horrific of all is deducting the rest of the years premiums from your settlement cheque if your pet dies or is put to sleep during treatment. Very few insurers do this, and it is an absolute disgrace if you ask me. For anyone with many on-going illnesses, also beware that More Than bump up your premiums significantly (one gentleman was paying nearly £75.00 per MONTH for his old boxer who was receiving cancer treatment.
