Good Points

Awesome sound...set up in a configuration of 5 matched Cresta 2 speakers for SACD and 6 for Dolby Digital 6.1. Imaging is amazing, bass response is so good I never bought a subwoofer, and they look great, sturdy build. The bass energy/midrange with 5/6 of these going during DVDs is amazing as I am using one on its side for my center channel. Best home theater setup I have every owned. Compared to KefQ series and Cresta won out. Don't bother with the matched center channel speaker.

If you have made the leap to SACD, you will never hear what SACD can do until you have identically matched speakers set up in the recommended configuration (three in front, two on side slightly in front of listening position). BUT when you hear SACD with these KEFs the only thing that will get to you is that the recording industry has been slow to put out material on SACD. Budapest Festival Orchestra: Dvorak New World Symphony sounds as close to life like as I've ever heard through a stereo and I've heard the Budapest Festival Orchestra live in Budapest and played some Dvorak symphonies as a teenager in the TSYO...the KEF Cresta 2s+SACD(+Marantz amp+Pioneer DVD/SACD) delivers. SACD reproduces the sound 20-20000hz that we hear and the overtones upto 100,000 hz that we don't hear but only feel...this adds that "energy" that you always hear/feel in a live performance. With 5 or 6 Kef Crestas surrounding you with heard and felt sound you are one step closer to reproducing the real thing.

Bad Points

Hard to find Crestas in North America...but worth special order (not sure if Cresta 10 which replaced the Cresta 2 preserved the tonal/imaging/sound quality). Check eBay.

General Comments

The KEF Cresta 2 are not that much more than BIC $200 speakers, but WAY WAY better in terms of audiophile quality...clear soundstage...ideal for home theater due to entry-level price. Don't bother with tiny little satellites and a sub combo...will never give you the energy you're looking for in a home theater system. He who seeks shall find...these Kefs are worth looking for.
