Interest rate
As a loyal Egg credit card customer for 5 years, I was rewarded by an interest hike from 17.9% to 22.9%. I was not informed, and I only spotted the change on my monthly statement by chance. When I approached them, they told me that they were reviewing individual accounts and that the increase could not be reversed, as it was due to 'current market position'. They were very unhelpful and blunt on the phone. Fortunately, I was working on a zero balance each month, and I had been for 4 months, so I had the power to walk away. I have now cancelled my Egg Credit Card.
Abbey Credit Card have just reduced my rate from 18% to 13.9% so I would love to know what 'current market position' Egg are talking about.
