Good Points

The NW A1200 design is very appealing, and at £79.00 ex Sainsbury's I think it is pretty good value for money. The supplied earphones produce a fairly good quality of sound.


Bad Points

The earphone cable is too short and lacking the suppleness of other makes. The earphone extension cable supplied with the player is like a coiled spring and constantly gets in the way if doing anything else as well as listening to music.
The controls are very fussy to use - just switching the player off needs several thumb movements. In the short period I have owned a Sony NW-A1200, I find that the supplied software is not difficult to use, although I have two albums which it has been unable to transfer to the player.


General Comments

I am not surprised that the Sony NW-A1200 is not in the MP3 top ten, despite the manufacturer's reputation for producing good quality electrical goods. The earphone design could be much better designed using more appropriate cable and the controls could be greatly simplified - what's wrong with an off button?
