Sound quality and features are superb, easy to use and user friendly.
Bad Points
The system developed problems after 18 months. It comes on for 4 seconds then goes back to standby led flashing. When you disable the CD system is when it can work, there seems some problem with CD powering up.
General Comments
I have studied the main PCB. There's a transistor which is supposed to regulate 3.3v q906 from either the emitter or collector which is malfunctioning giving a voltage 1.6 which cannot power the CD.
The cable for the CMT-CPX22 from the supply should provide 5v to the collector or emitter of q906 as indicated on the PCB via a capacitor but if you measure that pin which is indicated 5v its 12v is this a factory fault or design?
what can be done on q906 because its an SMD transistor? Any replacement from Sony or equivalent?

I had the same problem - took the unit to be repaired locally and was told it would cost $254. Took it home and opened the case and with the assistance of the above post located the transistor q906. While checking the voltages with my meter I inadvertently drew an arc from the collector to the next solder point above where it was connected and the equipment began functioning again. The action taken is of course not recommended for anyone to do but if someone can explain why an arc across these two points should allow the equipment to somehow reset itself there might be a considerably less expensive way to repair this equipment when this fault occurs.
