Good Points

Struggling to think of any.

Bad Points

Unreliable. Whites don't stay white. Dryer so hot the washing can burn when removed. Also steams and has an unpleasant smell. Dried washing does not smell nice and fresh.

General Comments

Hugely unreliable waste of money. It has a quick wash which is useful. The first machine was replaced within 2 months of purchase for failing, after a further 9 months the replacement has also decided it doesn't want to wash. Hotpoint customer services are unhelpful to say the least and very slow in getting engineers out - I guess because their appliances are so unreliable (my fridge freezer is also failing). I shall stick with Miele's in the future. They may cost £££ but boy, you get your moneys worth. You'll get 20 years out of it. This machine was a huge mistake. The drier function is especially awful, the washing comes out scalding hot (I have burned myself before now) and it smells unpleasant despite fabric softeners and those freshener sheets.

I agree with most of this review. Our WD420 was prone to problems (all of them electronic), After having the engineers out several times within the first 3-4 months, we insisted that Hotpoint changed the machine. Hotpint resisted this, but said depending on the engineer's report they might. The engineer agreed there was a problem and Hotpoint agreed to change the machine Great !!!! No quite..... the replacement was near enough the same, and subsequent engineers have told me the machines suffered with EPROM problems. Basically the machines program would become corrupt and the machine just stopped working. Now stuck with a fairly new machine that is just outside warranty and is as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Hotpoint want a minimum of £89.98 to even come and look at it. Think we'll cut our losses and buy a new machine, but it certainly won't be Hotpoint.
