No 0870 number and quick answer.
Policy ambiguous and manipulatively interpreted. UK cover means they will choose options for you without negotiation (as states in membership document)- either hotel for one night OR garage OR relay home.
We were offered over Bank Holiday weekend hotel for one night and car rental even although car could not be fixed next day and we would have had to return 220 miles north to collect car when ready. This was at 9pm when I had a child who was due to be going on holiday the next morning and two puppies left alone in house. The owner, whose name was not allowed to be given out, made the decision and his staff at the call center said there was nothing more they could offer - basically it was 440 mile round trip to relay us home and they did not want to pay bank holiday relay prices of £1 a mile even although the hotel/car rental option would have cost them about £300! They also said that they would pay for 100 miles of relay ie. £50 round trip.
I was infuriated with First Call GB Ltd and am taking this to Trading Standards and back to Martins Money Tips where I got hold of this company in the first instance. They allowed my car to be picked up and then later told me that they would not be taking me home. The hotel and rental of car would not have worked for me due to holiday commitments the following week. If this was my only breakdown company I would have been truly stuck. Instead, as my boyfriend was with me, we called the AA who agreed that same breakdown truck could relay us all the way home to Dorset (it is still in the territories of the UK last time I looked!) the breakdown truck people were also a police emergency center and they said that they do most of the breakdowns in the area and have never heard of a company doing this.
