Good Points

Beautiful Car
Comfortable
Small GTi Handling
Very Fast
I've literally smiled EVERY time I've used this car - over 5 years!

Bad Points

Electrics - not because they're italian, mostly German!
Low speed turning circle
Aircon Stepper motors can be fragile (ticking) needs alloy gears from Alfapro.com
Having gone from a 4WD car to a FWD 200bhp car, it took some time to learn not to wheelspin at every junction
19mpg average
High back makes parking tricky sometimes

General Comments

Having owned a 1990 3.0V6 for 5 years now (changed from an Audi 80 quattro), I firmly believe this is one of the best drivers cars ever.
Very easy to handle in low-speed traffic, thanks to a gearbox that lets you do 65mph in second. Recently, I drove through a tunnel at 120 with the windows open, the sound still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
My love of this car was rejuvenated last year, when I got in to the habit of downshifting, sounds fantastic!

Yesterday, I testdrove my new car - a BMW 850 V12 for a full 40 miles on motorways, and small streets. Nowhere near as exciting as the 164
I believe the Ultra-rare Q4 (4WD) version is the best drivers car on Earth.
