Many of the cricket teams wear green, unlike football where there is a highly practical reason why the colour is such, i.e. the need to identify your team mates, cricket teams have much more flexibility of team colours. Generally Pakistan have been the most famous side to wear the green jersey, it was only really introduced in the 1992 World Cup as standard. Incidentally it was a world cup which Pakistan won against England and thus it was made more famous. Another big advantage or boost was that one of the main characters from Max and Paddy wore the Pakistan odi shirt, which gave it a cult edge.

There have been a few variations of the cricket top, it has ranged from light green in 1992 and 1999 to dark green in 96, 2003 and 2007. Personally I like the lighter version, it seems more unique and nostalgic in terms of World Cup success. Dark green is also used by South Africa and Bangladesh so it less unique.
