Good Points

Very light, accurate, can be fitted with a silencer, carbine version (mine) is brilliant for shooting in hides or from vehicles

Bad Points

Loss in power over the years, no chequering on the stock

General Comments

I was given the carbine version of the BSA Supersport in .22 about four years ago now. back then it was the perfect size for me, i spent every waking moment shooting it and put around 10000 pellets through the barrel in three years.

However, when i reached 15 i received a shotgun so naturally my air rifle was put away and forgot about for some time.

A month ago i got out my air rifle in the first time in over a year to discover that it was still perfectly zeroed in, the power was still well up and it was still an extremely efficient hunting tool. The silencer i had fitted on it effectively muffles the muzzle crack whilst whilst the rocker safety switch is a joy to use

I found that whereas with the shotgun, i would shoot one rabbit and have to walk miles to bag any others, with the air rifle i could sit in my hide all day and easily bring back a load.

The lightness of the rifle makes it easy to carry round, it is simple and quick to load and the scope i had fitted (a 3-9 x 40) has not shifted zero since i first fitted it.

The lack of chequering on the stock is a minor disadvantage but i have heard that the new models do have it.

Because i clean my gun after each forray, the parkerisation is still perfect and the gun looks like new, even after four years of rough treatment!

Overall, it is a simple, powerful fun that is ideal for the starter shooter due to its light weight and outstanding accuracy

Actually, I ordered a BSA Supersport air rifle a few weeks ago, and mine came with chequering. This surprised me slightly, so I contacted BSA themselves, and, apparently, the chequering is a new improvement to the Supersport that brings it up-to-date, and gives it a touch of class.
