General Comments

The Hotpoint VTD00P has been a nightmare from the day it was delivered. The temperature (even on low heat) causes a burning smell on my cotton bed sheets. I called an engineer out within a week of receiving the machine and he assured me the machine was in perfect working order - so I took him at his word. I bought this tumble dryer online from a reputable company. The door handle snapped off and I've just had a new door fitted today - switched it on and black smoke began to billow out of the machine - luckily I managed to switch it off before I had to call the Fire Brigade. This is my second tumble dryer in 17 years (the last one was Hotpoint and lasted 15 years). I will never buy another Hotpoint tumble dryer again.

A notourios piece of junk this model and the rest of the series.most common tech failures are 1:belt snaps,2:rear"bearing"collapes 3:front drum support felt seal comes away causing fluff to enter inside of cabinet -potential fire risk.WHY:the belt is so tight pulling drum downwards that it puts so much downward pull on rear bearing that the drum spinel starts to wear and cut through the bearing, result snapped belt, sheard drum shaft. This design as far as i can tell, was to avoid using 2 jockey pulleys(belt tensioner wheels) which used to squeal after 2 years but at least the bearings rarely went!! but knowing my trade like i do it was really changed to just the belt/drum only to save dosh. They really are utter rubbish. jawa 592
