Good Points

The first thing we noticed was how clean it was. The rooms are normally 3 to 4*, double bed in a separate room, living room with sink and hob, balcony with partial sea view at no extra charge, sofa bed, TV with local stations, although there was a film on the nights we checked, in Greek with English sub-titles, they also supply all pots and pans, kettle, toaster, corkscrew etc. Lovely pool, nice grounds, beautiful reception on upper level and cosy but large bar area, entertainment area, indoor pool and small jacuzzi, outdoor pool was lovely, clean sun-loungers and plenty of them, library where you can leave the book you brought with you and select another free of charge and wonderful friendly staff, both English and Cypriot.

Bad Points

There is no beach as you would expect. You can access a very small sandy bit but you have to have ancestors who are part mountain goat to make it down there. The sea at this small pretty bay is unsuitable for swimming, found out from the locals that the undercurrent is so strong that they have mishaps each summer. The indoor entertainment area is fine but they have plastic garden furniture, don't wear a short skirt girls! Smoking is allowed throughout, which I thought was great but in the interest of political correctness, I have mentioned this as a bad point. This was my first trip to Paphos and the surrounding area was not as pretty as I had imagined. If you take a tour, get this, if the tour guide is not part of the Cypriot Tourist Board thingy, they are not allowed to tell you very much. We found this so annoying, that we cancelled the rest of our tours. Bring a guide book.

General Comments

My husband and I had a great time, as we just went away to relax. The entertainment isn't Vegas but who cares when the drinks aren't watered down and people are doing their best. If you like live bands, then jump in a cab down to O'Neils, that famous Irish chain, on a Friday/Saturday night. The food was a bit basic I suppose but my husband likes plain food and I like the opposite, neither of us had a single day that we couldn't find something we liked. Honestly, I'd read the reviews on the Pafian Sun Hotel after booking and dreaded re-hashing everything but to be honest, the food was good, fresh, plentiful, the staff in the dining room were fantastic! It's a pretty place, much better than some hotels we'd seen, not much in the immediate area but great views of the sea and if I hear one person who was there on the same week moan about the food, I have one question, why did you load your plates so high for every course?
