I bought my Staffy about 5 months ago, and I paid £200 for him. I've had him since he was 5 weeks old. After initial problems (read my Pedigree puppy pouches review) he has settled extremely well into the house, and with kids. Staffies are gorgeous dogs, and they are so affectionate. Mine is really playful and boisterous. His name is Roddy, and he's all black with a slight white chest and a white devil streak on his forehead. He is pretty obedient, and he will listen when shouted at. He doesn't seem to have problems with other dogs. He loves playing with a ball, and he loves to chew! He has a weird obsession with sponges and toilet rolls; leave any in his sight, and they'll be in bits in seconds. He is really good with people and loves children, especially playing with them, but he has got out of hand a few times, and I've got the nip marks to prove it. He's OK in the car; he just lies down and goes to sleep. I don't think I would be able to cope if he and the kids kicked up a fuss. His coat is very easy to maintain, with it being so short, it requires little brushing, but using a stiff brush removes any loose hair. Staffies should be washed properly once every few weeks; if necessary they can be rubbed down with a damp cloth and some suitable dog shampoo. They definitely need to be walked daily. We walk Roddy about 3 times a day, but he plays. It should get about 2 hours exercise each day, as they do enjoy their exercise. I have heard that some Staffies are prone to problems with their eyes, cataracts, over heating and breathing problems, so it's important to make regular appointments at the vets. And if you think that something is wrong with your dog just go in case, as it's better safe then sorry. In my personal opinion, they're only suitable for those people who can give them the time and love they need, as they need a lot of time. You need to be able to take care of a dog, especially when it's hurt or not eating.

I wouldn't change mine for the world!

Great review my friend, I'm glad I got to know a little bit about Roddy after reading your moving review of the puppy pouches.

I would recommend a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. They are great with kids, look impressive and are very territorial and loyal friends too. They do eat a lot, and they are very powerful (like me - our lass always says, because I'm a very big lad). Staffy's are very dense though; whereas I'm well above what you would call average intelligence.

Great review Taylor. I look forward to reading more!
