- Great for the money
- Not top quality but then what do you want for the price
The Nikon F55 was my first SLR camera and essentially what got me into photography. I am now a professional photographer and have moved on to, shall we say, more wallet punching equipment. It is basic and cheap but provides you with an entry into the world of SLR photography. With the digital world taking over most people would be put off by the fact that it still requires film which needs to be purchased and developed. In my opinion, to get a good idea of what photography is all about you have to start with the basics and this includes film. This is a fantastic camera for those whom want to set up their own home B&W dark room and develop their own photos. This can be done so cheaply these days and it provides so much satisfaction in developing your own snaps. Using film gives you a good idea of how light works which gives you valuable skills for when you move into the digital and professional world. Don't let yourself think that professionals only use digital cameras. This is far from true. Although there are now some pro's who swear by digital, most still like a mix of both film and digital. You can experiment with mixing different styles and techniques between them both. This camera allows you to do this and gives you all the basic functions you will require from a starter SLR including full manual modes and a full auto mode.
I highly recommend this camera for anyone looking to start out in the camera industry or just some one looking for a cheap camera for unusual/different shots.
