Good Points

Easy to use.
The Installation technician was helpful and versatile about the time he came to do installation.
Price not too bad.
Uninterrupted broadband since installation.

Bad Points

Customer service centre staff are very parrot-like in their dealings with any enquiries. They seem to have set answers for most questions, and then they falter if asked anything else.

General Comments

I ordered Digiweb wireless broadband online. The website is easy to navigate and easy to understand. It will tell you straight away if you are in an area where wireless broadband can be installed or not. Payment is straight forward if you use a credit card, and the installation and first three month subscription is taken a day after installation. If you can pay a years subscription, then the installation fee is waivered. Or you can pay by direct debit, which is set up by Digiweb via telephone. I specifically wanted wireless broadband, as I have teenagers and do not want a landline at home so that they can run up excessive phone bills. The only problem I then encountered was, as I stay in a smaller town where there is not a satellite office, I had to wait until a technician came out to my area. This is where the automated customer service came in, and also the parrot-like answers I received from the staff. They also tried to change my mind about the package I had ordered, which I knew I did not want to do. I did though finally manage to get a telephone number for the branch in my area, and once I called them, the technician came out to me the next day. The installation was quick, and the technician was knowledgeable and able to answer any query I had.

The service has been running very well since installation, and I have now had uninterrupted broadband at home for over a month.

I do think that Digiweb is value for money and worth looking into when looking for broadband at home.

I got digiweb installed about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It is their 6mb broadband metro package. I have had nothing but problems with them. I am getting speeds of only 1 to 1.3mb. However when I have contacted their support department all I get is the runaround in my opinion. They are telling me there is no problem, however on 6 independent speedtest sites, it is showing as slow as far as I am concerned. Surprisingly, their own speedtest shows the speed as 5.8mb!
They finally have emailed me to say its all fine, its a contention issue, despite me taking the time (at their request) to send in numerous screen shots of speedtest.net showing the slow speeds at different times of the day, so it can't be a contention issue!
Absolutely at my wits end and do not recommend Digiweb.

I am very interested to know the speed of download experienced by unhappyheather as I am exploring the satellite option. I wonder could unhappyheather indicate the comparison between the satellite version and say web cafe speeds?

I have now had my digiweb service for over 12 months, I am happy with the download speeds and the coverage. The customer service has improved and when I relocated home my digiweb was moved and reinstalled on the same day. Compared to Internet cafe speed I would say my satalite service is very comparable. I would definitely recomend this option to anyone looking at it.

Hi, I am considering Digiweb's 6 mb metro package. Never mind the technical support, I am amazed with their sales team. I called on three occasions to try to determine stuff like contention ratio, or how long will they take to resolve technical issues. On one occasion the sales rep told me he never experienced so many questions from one customer. Another literally became irate when he could find my town on his database. It felt these guys are being paid by the amount of calls they take rather than sales they make... Anyway, I think it is important for all to remember that just because someone has a good connection in one locality doesn't mean its going to be the same in another area. Satellite is very finicky that way. It is interesting Digiweb do NOT publicize their contention ratio. I eventually got the info verbally. It is 1:39 which is quite high. Can be annoying when your paying for 10 mb only to end up with 1 mb due to poor connection. The only way you can cancel and NOT be charged for breach of contract is if the is no connection. Not a great situation to be in.
