The car was there ready to collect when we arrived.
The car was dirty and extensively damaged. The first time we tried to drive it, apart from driving from the airport to the hotel, the car would not start. I called the local office who promised to send out a mechanic but could not say when so we left the car at the hotel & took a taxi. On our return the hotel told us that a mechanic had been out to the car and said that it was now OK. When I tried to start the car the engine was still dead. I phoned again, which took 2 hours to get through to the local office, and was told that a mechanic would arrive in 90 minutes. He actually arrived within 1 hour, carrying a new battery and 2 spanners which turned out to be the wrong size. He managed to fit the battery and get the car going but the service warning light stayed on for the rest of our holiday, so the only trip we did after that was back to the airport.

Holiday Autos offer keen prices but be aware that they use low cost suppliers and seem to have no quality control over them. We successfully claimed a day's refund, plus the cost of taxi fares, but it took the edge off our holiday not being able to trust the car.
