boboutlaw's review of Vauxhall Astra 1.8 16v Sport

“The Vauxhall Astra 1.8 16v Sport is easily the best...”

★★★★★

Good Points
Performance - an indicated 130mph with five up, 40+mpg on a run (although not when you're doing 130!) Seats comfortable, handling, practicality, reliability, price of parts.

Bad Points
Mines a bit rusty - rustproofing a bit hit and miss, some of this age have already disintegrated, some are pristine. Oil leaks, alloys prone to kerb damage. Seat bolsters on Recaro style seats wear quickly. Driving position and clutch action may not suit the shorter driver.

General Comments
The Vauxhall Astra 1.8 16v Sport is easily the best car I've owned, capable of withstanding a good thrashing when required, and of good mpg when driven properly. Numerous trips to the tip and holidays to the West Country without drama.

The "bad points" in my review are possibly only to do with mine; if you find a good one, they're well worth having.

I really want another, but the wife doesn't like it......
