I don't know where to start, as it has been a nightmare with Nationwide Building Society from day 1!
First off they came round to value our home, then they valued it at the same price we had brought it for 2 years ago!! Only when we told them there was a house 2 doors down from us that is the exact same, that had just sold for 40k more than he valued our property for, they reluctantly increased the valuation.
Now the reason this was a concern for us, was the fact that we were taking 7k out of the re-mortgage to pay off loans and fix up the house. Nationwide placed on their papers we needed the money for 'home improvements' apparently. It was not until the final Mortgage acceptance and final letter we received that they dropped the bombshell.
They would NOT release any money without paid invoices!! It is an absolute joke! We have 4.5k sat in their pockets that we can't touch until we magically find some money to pay for all the work, and they claim it back. It's a joke, and I am angry and upset this has happened to us. We are now stuck in a property we can't sell because it looks like a building site, and we have no money to fix it up!
