General Comments

Right I'll begin.......Me and 4 friends recently used the Premier Travel Inn situated near junction 21 on the M62. We chose the premier travel inn because of its location as we were only using it for one nights stay because we were going to Old Trafford to watch Man Utd vs Boro in the F.A cup. Because this game was a replay we didn't have enough time to book up early enough to benefit from any savings so we paid the full rate of £54 per room. This is the interesting part, we booked 2 rooms because each room sleeps up to 4 people and there was 5 people including myself. Imagine our surprise when the receptionist informed us we needed to book another room! That's 3 rooms at £54 each for only 5 people! When we questioned this we were told that the rooms are for 2 adults and 2 children, 3 adults were not allowed to share a room because of fire regulations! I told the receptionist in no uncertain terms that surly it would be easier for 3 adults to escape rather than 2 adults and 2 children! When we said we don't want the rooms, we will find another hotel, we were told we would have to pay the £108 for the 2 rooms we booked on the credit card because it was too late to cancel our booking! We were basically held to ransom and had to book another room, even though the 2 rooms we booked had a combined total of 8 beds. Scandalous.
If you can overlook getting completely ripped off, getting your eye balls removed and probably laughed at when you have gone to put your bags in your 3 rooms, the place was very clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the shower and T.V were spot on. The room was also very spacious, maybe because of the person to bed ratio I'm not sure.
Because of what happened to me, I don't think I will use this Hotel Chain again, there are plenty of others out there, so it would have to be a last resort for me I'm afraid. Don't let what happened to me put you off though because the place was fine, if this episode had not happened I would of gave it much better marks out of ten.
By the way if your interested Man Utd won 1-0. Ronaldo dived for a penalty......again!

We have stayed at Travelodge a few times, each room there can sleep up to 3 adults and 1 child. So what's the difference?! Looks like premier's Fire Precautions are a load of rubbish to me. I too would have been cheesed off in your situation.

Hi Helen. We all knew that we were getting ripped off, and if we had done anything about it, it would have cost us over £100. That was the worst bit for me, being held to ransom because of their ridiculous fire regulations, which coincidentally also acts as a means to extract a little more money from potential guests. It's not as if we were trying to get more guests into a room than they had beds in a room. It must also be said that the hotel car park was pretty empty, so this would suggest that they did not have to turn any guests away, because we booked only 2 rooms the night before on our credit card. They said we would be still be charged if we didn't take the rooms.

I think I will use Travel Lodge in future Helen, or even a traditional B&B the next time I make a similar journey. I certainly will not be using Premier Travel Inn.
