Very amiable - on appearance seem to want to help. Dig deeper and you find that it just isn't true!
See below...
I spent 2 hours in their office, with every promise to move my existing bank account to them. They tried to sell me no less than 4 different insurance schemes (factoring, PI, Employers liability, Mentoring (employment law insurance), and tried to sell me several others. However, at the end of a 2 hour meeting, saying all accounts looked good, turnover up by 50% year on year, I requested an overdraft of £10k for 2 new employees until cash flow kicked in. I was refused the overdraft on the basis that within 4 years of banking I had just ONE bank charge for a bounced cheque. This was because the existing bank took longer to clear a clients cheque, and a cheque written against it bounced before it cleared. So basically, the funds were there 24 hours later, but despite this I received a £32 fine and NatWest, on this basis, refused me an overdraft.
I strongly recommend, that if you have good accounts, a nigh-on perfect record, and if you show year-on-year substantial improvement, don't ask NatWest for help! (Unless you want to buy insurance).
