Bad Points

Because this is a paraphrase, it does not have each verse numbered individually, which can sometimes make it difficult to line up verse-by-verse with a translation.

General Comments

Eugene Peterson created this paraphrase of the Bible from the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts, not by simply paraphrasing from an existing translation. That gives this work much more credibility and accuracy than other paraphrases that have been done in the past. It is easy to read and often offers some beautiful "nuggets" of Scripture that really bring out the meaning of God's Word. The latest version now includes the entire Old and New Testaments, something many of us have been anxiously awaiting. A great resource for reading the Bible "for the sheer pleasure of it" or for reading devotionally. Overall this is a great work.
