Fast response writing to file finally, along with a fast CF 150x memory card, taking ultra wide angle shots not possible with a point & shoot.
Expensive to buy and fix, bulky and heavy to carry.
It's a fantastic digital SLR for some space to take shots not really possible with a point and shoot except perhaps the Kodak V570/(V705 not tried) for the ultra wide angle coverage but lacks the high quality image. However, traveling to third world, poor countries, I didn't want to risk the expensive camera equipment being lost or stolen, resorted to a Kodak V570 ultra-compact for my travel photography which is what I did going to the Philippines. Consider carrying rain gear for your camera gear, I ruined another camera in rainy Vancouver.
