Good Points

Easy to drive. Quick. Easy to park.

Bad Points

A lot of repairs necessary - some within 2000 miles!!! Wheel bearing after 8000 and another at 22000!!! Rattles common - windows, doors etc. Just been told now that I need a new timing chain - 23500 miles!!!! Main dealers quoting £1001.00 + VAT!!!!! Nissan UK will not entertain my complaint, dealers not very interested either.

General Comments

Please, please, please. Can all the other people experiencing timing chain problems with Micra get in touch with consumer advice companies. May be, just maybe we will persuade Nissan to take responsibility for their manufacturing blunder that is costing Micra owners thousands of pounds.

This is the same with my 03 plate nissan micra - at 35000 miles I have now been told I need a new timing belt at a cost of £1000 this is surely a manufacturing fault - Nissan should pay!

I totally agree with you. I have a stretched timing chain at 29000 miles and main dealer wants £954 to replace. NEVER buy a nissan again- going back to fords.

    Timing chain problems with Vauxhall.
Had L reg corsa, no problems, then R reg corsa, no problems, now got 54 plate Corsa twinport 1.0 energy (05 model) with 25k on clock.
    Warranty ran out in January.
I had recall in January for ABS, then end of March needed new gear linkage at a cost of 80 quid, now timing chain needs replacing at 280 quid. Problem is vauxhall won't cover the cost as my car is out of warranty.
I first took my car in April, twice the job has been cancelled as Vauxhall can't get the parts. The staff at my local dealership are very good and sympathetic, they also have other customers waiting for the same job doing. My car has full dealership service history and chains are supposed to last for around 80,000 miles.
Vauxhall did recall a few 53 plate models that they knew were defective, but as mine didn't come in with that group it means they expect me to pay. Well, it will cost them more than me in the long run. I won't buy another corsa, my son is changing his 02 reg Corsa sxi for a fiesta, (would have been another corsa) and I talked my friends son out of buying a corsa. Who is the loser now Vauxhall, me or you?

i brought nissan micra 2003 reg. It had only done about 20,000 on the clock. After having it for about 3 months i was told the timing chain had gone. This was very expensive indeed, after i had this repair fixed, i was told that the ignition barrel had snapped, after i had this fault repaired i was told the fuse had blown, after i repaired this problem i have now been told that another major part of the car has gone. I have spent over a thousand pounds on it. I really feel like scrapping the car, i will never buy a nissan micra again. Nissan micra manufacturers should call back all their fleet of nissan micra cars, especially the 2003 models if they are to keep their reputation. I am extremely depressed.
