Good Points

The parking sensors. The automatic gearbox.


Bad Points

Numerous electrical problems that are intermittent and as a result are not fixed at the garage. Lack of power just when you need it. Poor support service.


General Comments

Having always wanted to own a Jaguar, I was delighted to buy the new S type, I got a very good deal for a new car but since then the car has had numerous electrical problems. For example - for most of last year the indicators would flash left when I signalled right and vice versa. The problem was intermittent and two dealers could not find a fault. They all thought it was funny until I pointed out not only was it illegal but potentially very dangerous. It was finally fixed after 8 visits to the dealer 9they replaced the whole signalling system). Now I have an intermittent problem where the engine management light comes on and ABS system doesn't work. The car is now on its 3rd visit to get fixed. These are only a selection of the issues I have.
I am not sure who wrote the positive reviews about the S type but my experience is that the Jaguar is very unreliable and an extremely disappointing buy. My business partner bought a Mercedes -needless to say he has had no problems.
