General Comments

Although I've only had this gun for about 30 minutes now, I think it's worth writing a short review about it.

First of all, I would like to start this review by saying that I did my research before buying this gun from Airshooter. This is my first CO2 pistol, so I didn't want to get it wrong. I'd spent a lot of my time reading reviews such as these on all different kinds of airguns, from under lever rifles to specialist target pistols, and after swimming through this sea of information, I found that the Sheridan EB22 came out on top. Why?

Because the EB22 is a good all - rounder. It's accurate, feels good in the hand and is pretty good value for money. Of course, the hardest thing for me is finding somewhere to actually shoot - which isn't all that easy living in Oxfordshire, but I do know that when I get the chance, this gun should be pretty amazing.

Now, depending on what reviews you've read, you may have all kinds of different ideas about this gun swimming around your head. Some say that the EB22 is amazing; the best gun you'll ever own, whereas others tell a different story. Taking the gun out of the box, the first thing I noticed was just how slim it looks. I found that pictures on the internet made it look big and chunky, but the real thing is far from it - in fact it reminds me slightly of a World War II pistol. Don't be fooled, though, because the EB22 is still a nice looking pistol.

Now there's something I have to say, and it's not as good as the rest. After taking the gun out of the box (which offered little damage protection), it quickly noticed that the left walnut grip doesn't fit the frame quite right. Knowing that Benjamin Sheridan are said to be high quality products, I was surprised at this fault with my pistol. You've also probably heard about the fragile paintwork on these guns - and it's no lie. Without even having used my EB22 yet, it's clear to see that some of the paint on the barrel has been scratched off. I'm thinking that maybe this is due to the box offering no protection what so ever.

So to summerise then, the Sheridan EB22 is well worth getting and seems good for almost anything. It definitely has the power for taking down small deer or what have you, and the accuracy means it's good for target shooting as well. You can also adjust both windage and elevation on the rear sight, which is another bonus. Oh, and there's safety, too.

I hope this review will be useful to someone, and I recommend the Sheridan EB22 to anyone who's looking into CO2 pistols. It's worth remembering that there are a lot of bad pistols out there, some of which I almost fell for - but the EB22 certainly isn't one of them.

My EB22 will not "take down small deer". As no one has mentioned this mine must be faulty and I will have to return it to Crosman.

Where does Cogniton go for his shooting trips. Is it drive by shooting in the local deer park, and where does he purchase "rifled 22 pellets". I think we need more info.

Urrr, I don't use mine as much as most people - and I don't hunt with it. I'm not saying that it's not good for hunting, I'm just saying that I wouldn't know.

I take mine out down to a little place I know out in the country. No, it's not private land - but it's quiet enough for nobody to care. You get the odd dog walker or two, but they generally don't care.

As for where I buy all of my stuff from, go to www.uttings.com for all of your airgun supplies.

If you have anymore questions just ask.

Of course you can take down small deer with an EB 22/20 or even an EB 17 - hit them over the head with the pistol and stick out your leg as they run away - down they go !
