You can re-assign the soft keys whichever way you want, and easily set up a Shortcut to a favorite function. Writing texts quickly becomes very easy & intuitive & I like the way, even with predictive texting turned off, it'll still offer sensible completions of words, and it learns from what you've entered before. Press & hold space & it will begin a new line, which is perfect for making lists. Onboard Help is v.good. The organiser is much better than you would expect given you can pick this up PAYG for £30. You can't make new folders, so if you want to store text msgs as notes like I do, you have to just use Drafts - but if you set up a 'fake' Contact with the title of your note, e.g. TO DO, then you can 'send' your note there & it will save with that title - ideal.
I can't seem to save speed dials to SIM, at least not so's you can call those numbers with a one-key press & hold. Dunno if that's just my O2 PAYG SIM card - you should check this out. So you have to save these numbers to Phone instead, then they work fine - but hey how bad is that?
Keeps on surprising me with features I didn't know it had. If you're still not convinced, get hold of one & spend an hour or two exploring it. You may well find that what it won't do, you didn't want to do anyway, and save yourself a wedge of dosh.
