Power steering, quiet, comfortable, economical, comfortable at motorway speeds.
Slow acceleration, heavy steering (even though power assisted), poor handling.
The Vauxhall Astra 1.4 16v is essentially a very good car. Practical and frugal, yet lacking somewhat in the power department. I feel dreadfully sorry for those who own the 1.4 8v, as this one will barely make it to 60 in under an hour so. But regardless of this the car is a good all rounder. It can seat five or six in relative comfort, and will sit comfortably at 60 to 70mph without too much noise or hassle. If hurried the engine will generally cope, but will make a massive fuss about doing so, and mine generally just grins and bears it all. Really recommended!
