Multi-shot
Not too heavy
Can be fitted with gas strutt
Too loud
Too much recoil
5 shot groups to big with spring power
Pellet fussy
I decided to fit a gas strutt, BSA Goldstar .177. This is my first air rifle, don't know much about the workings. There are 4 spacers and 4 washers to take out (Goldstar only BSA that has spacers) to fit the strutt. The last one was difficult to get at so I took the piston out, (big mistake) now the trigger and underlever overtravel which indexes the magazine has to be reset. You have to bring the compression cylinder down to make contact with the trigger sear and feed the piston in, holding the trigger on fire and pushing the trigger locking plate forward towards the muzzle, while knocking the piston past the sear. To do this you have to dismantle the cocking lever and safety rod that is attached to the trigger locking plate and cocking lever. The trouble is the compression cylinder won't go past the maxigrip scope rail lugs, it's about another 2 inches to the trigger sear. I've tried to lever the scope rail up but it won't budge, I've tried to knock the pin in but it won't move. I've e-mailed BSA 1.3.07 still waiting, if I hear from them at all. Some of you goldstar owners must have had the piston out to renew the piston seal, did you have to remove (or lever up) the scope rail to bring the compression cylinder down to the sear, if so, how did you do it? I don't want to mess things up more than I have done already, would appreciate your knowledge on this, thanks, Brian (uk)
