I hate this programme and it annoys me that people give Walliams and Lucas so much respect for it.
I am not the sort of person who lectures other people on what they should watch on tv and what is respectable because the UK is a free country and I don't have that right. However, I get genuinely angry when people rave about this show and I have difficulty in holding my tongue in such circumnstances.
I think that Little Britain is only watched because people are excited by the way it is unPC and that these people are feeding a rebellious instinct when watching. I can't see how it is funny. For example:
The Sketch with the jam tasting woman at the village fete.
This woman is testing the different home made jams and says 'this one looks nice, who made this one?' she eats some and when the woman she is accompanied by says an indian name the first woman starts vomiting everywhere.
The joke is that the respectable looking woman is a racist and she finds it disgusting that she has just eaten something made by an indian woman.
I don't find this to be a particularly intelligent or funny subject for a joke.
But, this is a joke and in a free country you can joke about what you want. What follows is her trying pastrys made by disabled people etc etc and lots more projectile vomiting.
This critically acclaimed comedy is basically taking stabs at minority groups and showing disgusting images like vomiting and fat nude men dressed as women.
If you try and watch this tv programme you will find that the jokes are repeated every week in the same format but the subjects of the jokes change. In some cases even the subjects don't change(david the gay welshman, vicky pollard)
I have decided that this programme is by no means a comedy but a disguised way of feeding a hatred for minorities, and a thirst for vulgar images. Therefore the popularity of this programme is clearly very alarming because it means we must have a huge number of secret racists in this country, who also find the subject of disability and anyone else who is different amusing.
Is it really that funny?
