Large rear screen and good contrast for reviewing photos. Focusing quick and quiet, with multiple eye points. Write-to-memory time and capacity is good. Battery life is OK, though it does stop working suddenly when the battery is exhausted.
Users new to Canon might find the controls less well laid out than some Nikon models.
Two of my Canon lenses from the EOS 50E have stopped working since being used on the D30 - could be coincidence, but it was aperture control that was lost on both, and the shutter refused to work until a newer lens was attached. One was a zoom lens, the other a prime.
As a Canon user I am pleased with this replacement for the 50E, though the camera does not feel as hardy as the film-eater.
