General Comments

I suppose any sat nav is only as good as the software installed. I bought my RAC 3.5" Satellite Navigation Unit from Woolworths in November. So far I have been very pleased with it. I still use my own sense of direction, but generally use it when I am going into London or going somewhere urgently without the time to look at the map book. I went to Twickenham recently and it took me off the offramp then back on again? But I have heard that most sat navs can do strange things, it is always good to have a general sense of direction anyway and maybe only start to follow the sat nav once you are closer to your destination, this will ensure that you are not sent on any strange route. The RAC 3.5" Satellite Navigation Unit has Points of interest which is a big bonus, it has night and day screen (this is very good as I know someone who uses a sat nav at night and it shines bright like a TV in your face) which lights up the interior of the car like a xmas tree. The screen is touch screen with your finger or a supplied pointer. Reception is good and voice commands are good. It can also be updated by plugging into your PC and downloading further info (though you might need a bigger memory card if you require more maps etc). I have always been very good at directions so people who know where they are going will get frustrated at being sent on a longway round or a route that doesn't make sense which is why I have it as a back up as I know at least I will always find my destination (or way back home) when I don't know the area.
