Good Points

Cheap quiet efficient

Bad Points

Three new fronts under guarantee - its a design fault whereby they crack
Two new tops - its a design fault whereby they crack
New cost was £212 from the Co-op with a two year guarantee After 2 years and 9 months the wash pump has seized up and needs a new one. £60 if I buy from the Interent and fit it myself. A new later model machine £168 from Dixons. Will it be any better or should I pay more for a Bosch. It seems that Hotpoint, Creda, Indesit, Ariston are all the same from Merloni.

The wash pump on my Indesit D167 dishwasher had seized up. The pump case is welded so that the impeller is not accessible. I took the pump off the motor - left hand thread - put some washers on the shaft to act as spacers, so when the pump impeller was reassembled it was no longer tight against the casing and turned freely. The machine is working OK again.

From new, and even after engineer visits to replace cracked fronts, the door was adjusted so closely that it had to be pushed to close it. I adjusted the catch so that the latch works easily, and it now closes with a click. Again, it is now working well. The white plastic trim around the flat top of the machine remains cracked. That can only be a design fault. The door front cracking was caused by poor assembly from new, and by the Merloni service engineers.
