Bad Points

Everything.

General Comments

It took 2 months to get my business account approved and up and running, but still no ATM card then. I have seven pin numbers. Yes 7! 4 of them arrived on the same day! 2 were addressed to the company secretary, who is not supposed to be receiving an ATM card in the first place. I still haven't got an Alliance & Leicester business ban account card though. Customer service is awful - they don't seem to care. I get the usual "sorry sir, we'll send one straight away", assuming I wait for 20 minutes on hold that is. I am closing this account ASAP.

I am three weeks into waiting for mine, and having just phoned Alliance & Leicester in response to a letter requesting verification of ID and address for one Director (under 18), they have just informed me that all account holders (they require 2 for a Ltd company, even though only one will manage the account and be authorised) must be over 18. Nowhere was this stated on the Business Bank Account application form, which she acknowledged, so they say I have to start again. I have just wasted time and effort, and I am sitting with money to pay in, which obviously I can't access.

The application process with this bank is slow, cumbersome and infuriating. I don't understand how they failed to notice the age details in the beginning and only raised it when I questioned the details they needed. I assume they would have progressed the application even further and then refused to open it at the last minute because of the age issue, and wasted me even more time.

I've now decided to try NatWest instead.
