Good Points

Easy to empty canister.


Bad Points

Cheaply made. Not a very well thought out design. Very expensive. Accessories do not work as designed/intended.


General Comments

I am very disappointed in this appliance. We have only owned this Dyson for 6 months and 2 months into it, the beater bar began to rub the housing intermittently making a horrendous noise. While the noise is still a problem, I have yet to notice the difference between this vacuum and other less expensive brands.
Also, while cleaning stairs with the detachable and unit, the hose kinks unless you lay the vacuum on it side while using making the hand unit totally useless.
Several of the "upholstery" cleaning attachments theoretically use the suction power to rotate the mini beater bar on the attachment. But as soon as you touch the attachment to any surface, the beater bar stops rotating?
Be careful where you place your hands while lifting or using. You may inadvertently disconnect the canister or disengage the hand cleaner attachment.
Finally, it seems to me that the primary beater bar does not make full contact with the surface, thus making it necessary to make passes over the same soiled surface.
Do your homework and I'm sure that you'll find a better Vacuum cleaner for less money than the Dyson Animal.
