Good Points

Stunning decor on board ship. Excellent Health and Fitness facilities. Good entertainment programme with special praise for the spectacular ice show. Cabin clean, comfortable and attractive. Favourite ports of call, Ville de France and Bay of Naples, both beautifully picturesque and easily accessible. The company of our six fabulous and unforgettable dining companions each evening was the highlight of our holiday.

Bad Points

Constant begging for tips and gratuities through every media onboard including the Daily newsletter, the cabin video, the presentation by the ship's Captain, bingo caller, not to mention the pushy staff themselves.
When selecting a treatment or service from the Health and Beauty Spa, beware of hidden extra charges on top of advertised prices as they add on a 16% tax and service charge.
Service was generally satisfactory however on occasion this was not so, examples include the room attendant who was unwilling to iron a shirt, the barmen who was unable to serve correct drinks orders and the waiter coercing me into accepting unwanted escargot, instead of the desired scallops on order.
Ports of call Livorno, Marseilles and Rome were industrial harbours and it took expensive taxi rides or long train journeys to reach the tourist centres.
Royal Caribbean offered a good range of bus tours but they were vastly overpriced.
When my husband felt unwell, we sought medical advice from the on-board doctor who after a 30 minute examination diagnosed heartburn, wrong as less than 8 hours later he was running a soaring temperature with a virus, then we received a bill for 1266 US Dollars.

General Comments

We will probably cruise again in the future but definitely not with Royal Caribbean.
