Very close to the beach, where our teenage son wanted to kite board. Large kite-boarding community meets there, on the beach, not Pontin's.
Easy to book, warm welcome, friendly staff. High level of security entering and leaving the site.
Windows in the chalet could have been cleaner but being so close to the sea, the salty spray does make windows appear dirtier, the dirt was not inside.
Basic level of comfort, only comfortable seating for three people in a chalet designed for four, considering that we were in the top of the range chalet. We found it fine for a long weekend but felt that more comfort would have been needed to enjoy a full week.
You pay for what you get! If you get a free holiday or pay £9.50 you must expect the poorest accommodation Pontin's has to offer, in the least desirable parts of the centre.
We stayed in a Club chalet, although having peered through the windows of the Classic ones, there seemed very little difference, other than a toaster, microwave, towels and a free daily newspaper. The chalet was clean and had all the basic equipment needed. The downstairs Club chalets have wooden floors but we were upstairs and had carpet, it was well vacuumed but did have the odd cigarette burn in it. The carpets upstairs were probably to prevent noise for the chalet below. We didn't find noise a problem, other than a few (probably drunk) people shouting their goodbyes in the early hours but we have experienced this at the best hotels too.
We did not try any food or entertainment, as we were purely using the centre as a convenient place to stay. However, we played crazy golf and used the swimming pool, both free and of a reasonable standard, staffed by helpful, friendly people. As it was half term, we saw lots of children making use of a number of well supervised activities and enjoying themselves.
