Good Points

good image quality, component/RGB/S-video output, photo view, good mp3 handling, tested svcd up to 3300Kbps

Bad Points

PAL version lacks progressive output, audio CD's sound not satifactory

General Comments

I was looking for a more versatile player than Sony PS2 and i tryed at home the Panasonic DVD-S35 and the JVC XV-N33.
The better RGB image quality on a 32" widescreen TV was on Panasonic, the worst was on JVC, even compaired to PS2.
The image on panasonic, in some situations, seems a little bit more solarized compaired to PS2 but the detail is better. The JVC suffers of a lot of solarisation and compression noise.
The quality of photo viewing on DVD-S35 is good, rescaling to tv resolution is acceptable, no strong artifacts. The jvc deforms the aspect ratio of images and stairsteps a go go.
The zoom function is better in jvc, it's possible to view letterboxed films in wide screen, on panasonic it's not possible.
Audio CD's sounds better in JVC.

I think you've forgotten the main point of a review, mentioning whether it's good value for the money.

Complaining whether it has progressive scan or not is pathetic as the player only costs £120.00!

I could complain that the picture isn't as good as the Denon dvd-a1 but at £2,500 what do you expect!

If you're gonna take the time to write a review I suggest you remain unbiased and cover all aspects, otherwise you're wasting both your own and the readers time.
