Good Points

Looks good and compliments a Sony TV. (No messing about with screen formats and sizes)

Bad Points

Very noisy fan which is on all the time, even in standby.
Very slow to react to the remote control, can take a full 3 seconds after pressing the remote for anything to happen.
Unreliable, after taking it back twice I gave up and changed it for a Humax.

General Comments

I bought this unit together with a Sony LCD Tv. Set up was easy and the functionality excellent. Simple to use and I was very pleased, except for the fan noise.............it's noisy, very noisy and as the fan is underneath the unit the noise is amplified by the shelf the unit stands on.

After a few days of use the delay on the remote control started to irritate, it can take up to 3 seconds for the unit to respond to pressing a button on the remote, if you are in a rush to set a programme to record, forget it, this unit works at its pace not yours.

After 2 months the unit packed up and stopped recording, all the saved recordings were deleted and the unit rendered useless. I changed the unit for a replacement (same machine). The fan was a bit quieter on this one but still obtrusive and the remote delay remained.

After 2 more months the EPG stopped downloading, I contacted Sony who were aware of this problem and are trying to resolve it. At this point I gave up and exchanged it for a Humax (Service engineers recommendation).

I am a great fan of Sony goods but this product is awful, I now know its a re badged something or other, what a shame Sony put their name to it. My advice is don't buy it.
