Y2SK8 could be a great park again. Bad Management. Manager and owners have lost all interest in the park, people smoking drugs and drinking alcohol openly, not good in front of young children and their parents alcohol is supposed to be banned but no sign of this on my visit with my child the manager was also seen drinking beer by myself what happened to the lovely lady who showed us around on our first visit. I feel from the short time that we spoke that the so called manager could learn a lot from this lady whom i found to be polite and have time for the children, unlike the manager. All i can say to the owners is time to wake up and smell the coffee this guy is running your park into the ground he is doin nothing to bring people into the park where places like Liverpool and Burnley are advertising in skateboard Mags with big comps Peterborough is being left behind they used to have some good comps at y2sk8 including the Redbull day but because of the I cannot be bothered attitude by the owners and Manager there are very few Comps and the ones they have all they do is moan that there is no one there and we are not making any money. There is such a thing as advertising this would help yet again this is where good managment skills come in which are sadly missing at y2. The beginners session is a joke they advertise tutors but all you find is young guy whom while good at their sport are no good at teaching and would rather hang out with their mates than teach beginers classes. There used to be two guys there whom were fantastic with the children, their sessions were packed and there heart was in the job unlike these youngsters whom i'm afraid to say have not got a clue. Get these other people back now or employ someone to do the job i understand Leeds have Tom Brown. The shop, well what can i say, take a look at it this is what is happening to your park no stock the place is empty so either they have sold all the stock or there is no money to be spent on stock i think the later to be true with online shopping now in place that place should be doing well. The park is now looking tired new ramps are needed a bowl would be nice expensive yes but i think that with with this in place along with new Management people could soon return to what was a good park. Just an idea but if i owned the park i would put the lady in charge she seems to have a lot of people skills. So once again wake up do something before its to late if its plain for me see that your manager is not doing his job you must see it i don't know how much you pay him but £2.00 would be to much

I agree with what this guy has said, the drugs and alcohol are best advised not to be consumed on site as said for the kids sake. I think many people dedicatd to the sport would be up for tutor sessions but due to the age difference its hard to find someone young, experienced and not wanting to go off with their m8s.

It is a nice park but does need re vamping. MAYBE some of the money going to the council houses should be spent in here to get kids off the street and get some good tutors in. I'd be happy to teach the basics of bmx.

Obviously a review from someone with no insight into the industry that is costing private skate park owners a lot of money. Thanks for your kind comments, I am in fact only on £1.50 so there are no worries there.
I am the first to agree that the park has gone down hill, a lot of this is due to a general slump in the sports. Salomon no longer making skates, WHY ?. K2 no longer making skates, WHY ?. Bauer, Oxygen, Ultrawheels no longer making skates, WHY ?.
Skateboard distributors that have been around since the late 70's/early80's have gone bankrupt, HSC the biggest retailer of skateboard equipment in the UK has gone bankrupt, WHY ?.
Must be all down to me and my can of beer !!!!
Also lost a lot of trade through banning anyone caught smoking cannabis in the park. With all these issues in the industry there is no money in bank, stock, certainly soft goods are cheaper in TK MAXX than I can buy trade, and distributors are now selling goods straight to the public who are opening ebay shops with no over heads ! Could you compete ?
With no money you cannot build a bowl, advertise at a cost of £500+ a time. Just for the record because our lease was over due to the landlords wanting to build houses it doesn't encourage me to advise the owners to spend cash that they haven't got on more timber. Money they will never see again.
The local council have also opened over ten free public access outdoor parks in Peterborough which has caused a dramatic decline in our summer trade. Our roof has been leaking severely for the last 3 years, which the landlords have refused to fix, causing a huge decline in our winter trade.
That lovely lady you first met has wonderful people skills, she will be glad to hear that, are you related ?
As for Rampworx, they have a wonderful facility that is run as a charitable organisation. Due to our lease not having security we are not eligible for many of the grants that Rampworx have been privileged to.
We have lost a lot of heart in the facility, even the nice lady you met did in the end.
WE ARE NOW CLOSED. ALL DOWN TO ME !
    Thanks for your kind comments.
I'm Off for one last beer

its a great shame some people just can't be bothered. Hopefully they can sort their game out without the council making things any harder for skatepark owner's.

This was my favourite park of all time, though my only visit i learnt alot, i agree with lee that trying to come up with money is hard as anything, but at the same time i agree with a couple others about the tutors issue, massive shame tht it closed down, was gna go last year but it now r.i.p's literally instead of being ripped, hopefully they can open a few more indoor skateparks dotted around the area instead of these poor council outdoor jobbies, everyone knows that the council are useless people that cant get anything right, our skatepark in diss for instance, a few boys moved bits and bobs about for the benefit of everyone and the council were saying we cant do this or we cant do that, so we did it more haha, and we have asked for shelters, roofing, or even some ligthing here and we have none of that because those government people are spending money on stuff that doesnt need to be built, eg more stupid fast food places or stupid monuments that just get wrecked or ridden if theyre rideable, like spending 25 grand on 4 bits of pathetic marble that we have all wrecked was a waste of time that could have gotten us a roof or shelter of somesort and kept the kids off our streets drinking and smoking, where as everyone used to thrive off the parks, riding til late as we could on school night back during school days, and now it seems like alot of people are losing heart, ty for everything tht y2sk8 provided, cos it made me sure as hell happpier than sitting in this place 24/7, just keep riding =)
